The People Behind the Work

WILLA is led by a small volunteer board and run project by project. We have no paid staff. The work gets done by our board, by the artists we name as Willa Rising Fellows, and by photographers, editors, archivists, and oral history interviewers we bring on for a specific film or family archive, paid when a project is funded.

Work With Us

We are not hiring staff. What we do have is project work and fellowships. If you are a photographer, filmmaker, editor, archivist, genealogist, or oral history interviewer, send us your work and tell us what you like to make, and we will keep you in mind when a project matches. If you are an artist whose work preserves histories that might otherwise be lost, look at the Willa Rising Fellowships. If you want to give time rather than be hired, we can always use help with research and transcription.

Why Work With Us

  1. Celebrate Diversity: We believe in the strength of diverse voices. Joining our team means becoming part of a community where your unique experiences and perspectives are valued and celebrated.

  2. Amplify Voices: Be part of a mission to amplify the voices and stories that deserve to be heard. Contribute to a platform that empowers individuals to define their narratives and challenges stereotypes.

  3. Collaborate and Inspire: Our collaborative environment encourages cross-disciplinary interactions. Work with a team of passionate individuals who share a common goal – to inspire change and foster understanding through storytelling.

  4. Shape the Narrative: Play a pivotal role in shaping the work of the WILLA Foundation. Your creativity and expertise will help build a platform that reflects the full range of American family histories.
